Introduction

The functionality in DocuNote is implemented with a 3rd party product from Aspose, which is used to perform validation and conversion. When a document needs to be saved as PDF/UA, it must be saved as "tagged" (hierarchical), and a "UA-flag" is applied to indicate that the document is in PDF/UA format.

The functionality with Aspose provides the ability to validate a document, but not to make changes to the document to make it compatible. With Microsoft Word, users can use the built-in guide in Word to optimize templates or documents.

For users to utilize PDF/UA in Microsoft Word and via the built-in Aspose component in DocuNote, it is expected that the user will need to be trained.

What is PDF/UA Accessibility?

PDF/UA stands for: Portable Document Format/Universal Accessibility. It is a set of guidelines that can be followed to make your document accessible to all people, regardless of disabilities or impairments, such as color blindness, visual impairment, or blindness. Therefore, extra consideration must be given to things like color contrasts, reading order, and image captions in documents.
