We recommend

We recommend that you create your document or template in Word and test the compatibility in DocuNote.

Microsoft Word

This is an example of using Word's accessibility guide, where Word can help make the document accessible. Word cannot mark the document as "UA" compatible when converting to PDF. This must therefore be done in DocuNote.

Navigating a document

The prerequisite for navigating a document is the correct setup of text. If headings of all sizes, body text, image captions, quotes, tables, etc. are not specified in the document, the document will not be able to be read aloud in the most understandable order. This will not be useful for the recipient, and your PDF file will not be able to meet the standard.

In Word, you simply need to use the Heading styles, as they are already defined as an H level. Read more about headings and H levels on the "Guidelines for PDF /UA" page.

All standard formats in Word can be set to the typography you desire. It is crucial, if a Word document is to be made accessible, that formats are used.

If you are interested in finding out whether your headings, body text, etc. have the correct tags, you can advantageously use Adobe Acrobat Pro to check this.
