To create a new document, you should pick up the template that provides appropriate formatting and layout characteristics.
Navigate to the case or document folder, and do one of the following:
On the ribbon bar, select New*,* and then select Create document from template:
Using navigation tree in the left pane, right-click the case or the document folder, and select Create using template from the context menu:
When inside the case or document folder, right-click in the explorer window, and select Create using template from the context menu:

Tip:
In the template library, select a template that best matches the document you want to create. In addition, you can use the following template categories:

Use the Search box at the top to quickly find the template by its name.
Select Templates node to search all templates.
Select a particular folder to perform search in the selected location.
Use Formats drop down menu to display the templates of the selected format:
When hovering cursor over the template, a tooltip appears showing you when the template was created, last edited, published and its current version. For Recently used templates and Case templates the full path in the template tree is shown as well. </aside>
If you do not want the document to be opened for editing after it is created, you should tick the “Do not open the document” check box in the lower right.
In this following dialog box you need to fill out the name of the document, and further have the following options:
When all set, click OK.

When a specific template is selected, you can create a shortcut to it using the "Send shortcut to" menu. Clicking on this shortcut starts the creation of a document from this template at the location where the "Document creation" process was initiated.

Before the document is finally created, the Properties dialog box will be displayed, allowing you to fill in document metadata.

DocuNote administrators can highlight document templates for use in creating documents for certain case types (see Documents and cases - Case types) In that case, the option "Document" will be visible under "Create," and when chosen this will skip the "Document from template" dialog box.
