Introduction

Discarding is an automated system in DocuNote for managing the lifecycle of documents and cases. It works by applying special markers (discarding codes) to cases, folders, and documents, which automatically move items to a discarding bin after a specified period. This ensures systematic clean up and compliance with legal requirements for document and case retention. The system runs automatically every week via a dedicated service, making the entire process efficient and reliable.

Setting up permissions

Feature activation

To use this functionality, the Discarding feature should be activated in the Feature Manager.

Setting up permissions

Please check if appropriate permissions are set up:

  1. Click DocuNote tab and click System Setup*.*
  2. In the left navigation panel switch to Roles and Permissions*.*
  3. Click Roles and edit the Module Role*.*
  4. Check if the following permissions are enabled under Discarding section:
Permission Definition
Manage Discarding codes Activates the Discarding codes module in the System Setup.
Access to Discarding recycle bin Provides access to Discarding recycle bin.
Delete from Discarding recycle bin Allows you to delete items from Discarding recycle bin.
Restore from Discarding recycle bin Allows you to restore items from Discarding recycle bin.
  1. Save your changes, if any.

In addition, please check if appropriate setting is defined on the Settings page.
