A case can be locked or unlocked with all its subitems inside to deny or restore the user's privileges. Privileges include moving, deleting, editing properties, checking out documents for edit, managing document versions.

• To lock cases, the organizational permission Lock cases and documents should be granted.
• To unlock cases, the organizational permission Unlock cases and documents should be granted. </aside>

To lock a case, right-click it and select Lock from the context menu.

When locked, the item's icon will have a "lock" indicator . Any subitems that reside in a given case will be locked automatically too.

To unlock a case, right-click it and select Unlock from the context menu.

• When unlocking the case, any documents inside which have been locked, will not be unlocked automatically and should therefore be unlocked manually. </aside>

• You can select lock/unlock multiple cases at once. </aside>

Controlling properties for locked items

By default, you cannot change properties for locked cases. But this can be changed by activating the relevant settings under “Settings”> “Cases” / “Documents” (see Cases / Documents settings)

• (580) Lock case properties when case is locked - if set to No, a user can still modify case properties after the case has been locked;

• (579) Lock document properties when case is locked - if set to No, a user can still modify document properties after its parent case has been locked.

  • These settings is discontinued from DocuNote 6.9 - Case and Document propeties will always be locked, when cases and documents are locked. </aside>

• Changing these settings does not effect the existing locked items. The changes are applied only to newly locked items. </aside>
