Overview

The metaforms provide a way you can display metadata and system data related to DocuNote objects like documents, cases, templates, tasks, companies or users, etc. In other words, every DocuNote object is linked with metadata through the specific form. By default, DocuNote contains predefined metaforms, usually one of each type. However, whenever, you want to create objects with custom metadata or with some specific requirements, the initial step will be to design your own metaform. That is where, you will need a Metaforms designer.

In the example below, you can compare a simple company metaform design with the company's properties dialog box.

Metaform fields

A metaform can include number of system fields (like document title, creation date), which are built-in and take their values from database tables. Furthermore, you are allowed to create your own custom fields to best fit your needs. DocuNote offers many types of fields—each designed for a specific purpose. For more information about custom fields, see Custom field types.
