A case can be locked or unlocked with all its subitems inside to deny or restore the user's privileges. Privileges include moving, deleting, editing properties, checking out documents for edit, managing document versions.

⚠️ Please note:
- If a case is locked, the nested items can only be unlocked by unlocking the case.
- Documents that are already locked for other reasons, prior to locking the case, will remain locked until they are unlocked individually.
- To lock cases, the organizational permission Lock cases and documents should be granted.
- To unlock cases, the organizational permission Unlock cases and documents should be granted.

To lock a case, right-click it and select Lock from the context menu.

When locked, the item's icon will have a "lock" indicator . Any subitems that reside in a given case will be locked automatically too.

To unlock a case, right-click it and select Unlock from the context menu.

- When unlocking the case, any documents inside which have been locked, will not be unlocked automatically and should therefore be unlocked manually.
