overview

For each level in the organization hierarchy, you need to set the relationship between metadata on metaform and database values. The basic scenario in previous sections described how to merge data at the document level. However, it often happens you need to define the global merge settings to be associated with any document under specific files. Suppose, you have a number of documents assigned to different document types and you need to apply a new merge setting to all these documents. Instead of configuring each document type you can place all documents under one file and apply merge settings at the file level.

Much the same as with document-level merge, there are three steps involved in associating file system and custom fields with your documents: adding a file metadata, adding a file profile, and linking them to a file type.
