Add maps and overlays

It is possible to add additional maps to the Map Support module. It is also possible to add overlays to the module. Overlays are displayed on top of the map and can, for example, be used to show cadastral parcels, municipality boundaries, and contour lines. It is only possible to add maps from WMS services.

Only maps in the WGS84 coordinate system (EPSG: 4326) are supported

You add a new map or overlay as follows:

  1. Open System Setup.

  2. Click on Maps in the ribbon bar:

  3. Click Add.

  4. Fillout relevant informations

    Map name: Enter the name that the map will have in DocuNote.

    Map URL: Enter the URL used to contact the WMS service. The structure of the URL may vary depending on the provider. Read more about URL generation at Kortforsyningen below.

    Layer name: Enter the name of the layer to be displayed when the map is selected. It is necessary to call the layer the same as it is named at the WMS provider.

    Theme: A layer can consist of multiple themes. Themes are typically used to provide the option to display the layer in different colors. It is not necessary to specify a theme.

    Copyright text: Enter a text that appears in the lower right corner of the map.

    Is overlay: If this field is checked, the map is treated as an overlay. It is possible to display any number of overlays on top of a map. This can, for example, be overlays that mark cadastral parcels, municipality boundaries, and similar.

    Is default: If this field is checked, the map is selected as default. It is not possible to check this field if Is overlay is also checked. It is only possible to check this field for one map.

  5. Click Save.

Generating URL at Kortforsyningen

Kortforsyningen is part of the Danish Agency for Data Supply and Infrastructure. Kortforsyningen provides a wide range of free WMS services. Among other things, it is possible to retrieve various maps (including aerial photos) as well as many overlays (including cadastral parcels, municipality boundaries, and addresses).

On Kortforsyningen's website, it is possible to have a URL generated that contains the correct parameters so you can contact the desired WMS service.

In the section below, there are some examples of maps and overlays from Kortforsyningen. The examples are complete with both URL and layer name.

You generate a URL for one of Kortforsyningen's WMS services as follows:
